Colour: Dark brown, almost black with four orange patches on the wing cases, although these may not be very obvious.

Antennae: Has distinctive "L" shape.

Distinguishing features: Long snout called a rostrum

Larvae are pests of: Whole grain cereals such as wheat, rice and maize.

Damage: Pests of food

Adults eat: Small amounts of cereal

Often found on: These are not collection pests but have been found on whole grain rodent baits.
