Two-spot carpet beetle Attagenus pellio

Adult beetle.

Size: 4-8mm

Shape: oval.

Colour: black with two white spots on wing cases.

Antennae: long club.

Distinguishing features: two white spots on wing cases.

Often found on windowsills.

Larvae eat dead insects but are also pests of wool, fur, feathers and other animal protein.
Damage is often with cast larval skins and gritty frass.

They are more common in historic houses than museums.
